Well, we just realized that our two-nights-for-the-price-of-one offer in January includes the Presidential Inauguration week! So what? you may say.... Well we just heard that the hotel up the street is already taking bookings for the inauguration and we are two hours from Washington DC!
So if you too cannot find a hotel in DC, not only can you stay with us, but you can also do it for half-price!

After the summer...
Hello again, it's been a long time since May! We've just had an amazingly busy high season and are beginning to slow down a little for the winter months. It's time now to get on with all the little maintenance jobs that need doing, and to start the planning process for next year.
Speaking of which, for the last few years the State of Pennsylvania has promoted January as "Cabin Fever" month with a view to encouraging tourism in the Keystone State. This year for whatever reason (and who knows what reasons government agencies can come up with!) they are not doing it on a State level. We however are!
So for the entire month of January you can buy one night at the Carlisle House and get the second night of your stay free! Actually you can buy up to 15 nights and get 15 free if you want to stay the whole month!
This offer starts on the 1st of January, so why not combine it with New Year's Eve here and get three nights for the price of two? You can enjoy all the fun of Carlisle's First Night, culminating in the Mini-Indycar Drop and fireworks at midnight.
While you're planning your winter trip to Carlisle I'll be caulking, painting and otherwise fettling the Carlisle House ready for your visit!

First blog, first in Carlisle, first in PA
This is the start of our new Weblog for the Carlisle House Bed & Breakfast. Maybe we should start by introducing ourselves! I am Alan Duxbury, an English ex-pat living in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA. My wife Mary is a native of Carlisle, and along with our much-valued housekeeper Lorrie, we run the Carlisle House Bed & Breakfast.
We've been innkeepers now for a little over four years, and we are having a great time meeting all sorts of wonderful and interesting guests. In this time, we have won the "Best of Carlisle" award four times, and are currently rated the Number 1 B&B in PA by the reviewers of TripAdvisor.com.
This can of course change, but we are doing our very best to stay up there!
One of the great things about Carlisle is the history of the city. It was founded in 1751 and was named for Carlisle, England by the Pitts. This year, 2008, sees the 250th Anniversary of the French & Indian Wars and the Forbes Expedition to remove Fort Duquesne from French control. You can find out all about the history and the celebrations at HistoricCarlisle.com.
Of course there are many other reasons for visiting Carlisle, we are the home of two of the top 50 fly-fishing streams in the world! These are the Yellow Breeches and the Letort Spring Run, and we receive guests from all over the world to fish these waters.
Please feel free to add comments, ask questions, and of course to visit our website at TheCarlisleHouse.com.
We'll chat again soon!
